Last week we visited our dear friends at Truefitt & Hill in London. Renowned barbers and luxury groomers, it was a wonderful opportunity for us see the team as well as hearing all about their history and heritage. Fellow Royal Warrant Holders, Truefitt & Hill have held a variety of warrants through the years and now visit His Royal Highness, The Duke Of Edinburgh at either Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle. Looking back much further, the company have a truly rich and decadent past.
Recognised by the Guinness world records as the oldest barbershop in the world, we loved hearing how Truefitt & Hill have served almost all male members of the British Royal Family since George III, as well as numerous Royals of other European Courts. As well as royalty, their client book also includes the very best from British politics including William Gladstone, the Duke of Wellington and Sir Winston Churchill. Many other legendary figures from the world of the arts and entertainment, who have also enjoyed the legendary Truefitt’s touch, include Charles Dickens, William M Thackeray, Lord Byron, Oscar Wilde, Beau Brummell, Alfred Hitchcock, Laurence Olivier, Danny Kaye, as well as the celebrated John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Stewart Granger, Fred Astaire and Cary Grant.
We can certainly see why the shop itself has such a high calibre of clientele. With opulent furnishings finished to the highest standards, this is the perfect spot for the traditional English gentleman to enjoy an afternoon’s grooming.
Made in Britain
Unusually, all of Truefitt & Hill’s products are carefully crafted in England, ever since their inception in 1805. We really admire the emphasis that Truefitt & Hill put on British craftsmanship, just like our design studios over the UK and our gift-wrap printing press in the heart of Wales.
We love the attention to detail featured in all of the products available from the shop. True to the brand’s heritage, we particularly enjoy the design features which have a distinctly traditional feel, made from only the finest materials.
We’d like to extend a hearty ‘thank you’ to the team at Truefitt & Hill for their wonderful hospitality last week, and we’re wishing them well over what will now be a very busy time of year for both of our institutions. In the year of HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday and our 110th year of holding our Royal Warrant, it was fantastic to continue a relationship with a team so in-line with our own values and traditions.
