It’s time again to meet another member of our fabulous team here at Tom Smith. This time, it’s the turn of Catherine Duggan, our Ancillary & AYR Cards Distribution Supervisor. One of our key team members, Cath is responsible for supervising teams of personnel, ensuring we meet customer deadlines and liasing with all relevant departments. Cath has been at the company for twenty years so she really knows it inside out! Her husband Shawn also works for us so it’s a real family affair!
We asked her a few different questions about what she does all year round for us.
What have you learned that’s new this year?
I’ve been managing outside suppliers and arranging collection and distribution via UPS from Luton.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Meeting our targets and supplying product accurately and in time.
If you could swap your job for a week with someone else at the company, what would it be and why?
Maybe someone in design, I am quite creative at home.
Who is your favourite person at work and why?
I would say Shawn Duggan for obvious reasons, I have to live with him! However I am going to say Andrea Heaver in Technical, she is always so cheerful and helpful and makes me laugh!
What are your hobbies?
Baking gluten free cakes / trying to master pastry.
If you could design and make anything in the world what would it be?
Clothing – I find that I always picture what i’m looking for in my mind but can never seem to find it.
What is your favourite colour?
Grey – much to my husband’s annoyance I have painted almost every room in the house a different shade of Grey! 🙂
What is your fondest memory whilst working for the company?
Receiving a special 30th Birthday cake – there were 2 cakes – a ‘3’ and a ‘0’. Sue Chivers announced over the tanoy system that it was my birthday whilst I was carrying it across the shopfloor, I went a lovely shade of pink!
What’s your favourite Tom Smith Product?
The bottle boxes, I think they’re a great Idea!
Favourite Tom Smith fact / or history moment?
The accreditation of the Royal warrant.
What would be your ideal content in your cracker?
Miniature bottles of wine! 🙂
What’s your favourite part of Christmas?
I love putting up my Christmas tree and adding the finishing touches (Christmas Crackers). I often take 2 hours putting up just my tree.
