Team Tuesday: Lauren Taylor

As Halloween is almost over it is truly time for Christmas in earnest!! Are you ready for the Christmas lights yet? One person who lives and breathes Christmas all year round is our Graphic Designer Lauren. After working for us for two years and nine months she designs wrap and crackers for Canada the USA and Europe. She can usually be found at her Mac, or choosing gems and ribbons to decorate mock ups, or preparing the showroom for customer meetings. We asked Lauren a few more questions about herself and her role here!

What have you learned that’s new this year?

This year I’ve really enjoyed learning more about the production processes of the industry. I’ve loved learning about exciting innovations and possibilities for achieving trend led designs in print. I recently went on a tour of our factory and was both fascinated and a bit overwhelmed to see the huge volumes of our designs in print!

What’s your favourite part of your job?

I love the initial stages of a new design, translating research and inspiration into an exciting design- especially if the design calls for hand drawn or water colour painted elements. I particularly enjoy foliage and hand lettering.

If you could swap your job for a week with someone else at the company, what would it be and why?

I would swap my job for a week with someone who partakes in customer meetings as I’d love to experience that process-especially if the meeting involved travelling somewhere exciting!

What are your hobbies?

In my spare time I love going for long walks with my family and taking photographs along the way.

If you could design and make anything in the world what would it be?

A sustainable textiles interiors collection.

What is your favourite colour?

Pink

What is your fondest memory whilst working for the company?

Team buet lunches outside on the benches in the summer. Everyone brings something and there’s usually lots of dierent cheeses and olives.

What’s your favourite Tom Smith Product?

My favourite tom Smith product is the Handmade 3D scene card from the Naturals trend.

What’s your favourite Tom Smith fact / or history moment?

My favourite Tom Smith fact is that our Crackers supply the Royal Household.

What would be your ideal content in your cracker?

My ideal cracker content would be some Clogau Jewellery

What’s your favourite 2017 trend and why?

My favourite 2017 TS trend is the Naturals trend. I love the whimsical characters, pretty foliage detail and the hand-crafted feel.

What’s your favourite part of Christmas?

A big family Christmas dinner with all the trimmings at my parents house- my Gran insists everyone dresses up as either Santa, an elf or a reindeer and brings the costumes.
